At the end of this program, consisting of pre-course online instruction with return of quizzes, and didactic and hands on instruction, the student should be able to:
- Discuss the interactions between sleep disordered breathing and many critical aspects of dentistry
- Screen their patients for possible sleep disordered breathing
- Discuss the basics of reading a Home Sleep Test (HST) and Polysomnogram (PSG) report
- Select which appliance will likely be most effective for a specific patient
- Make initial occlusal records for custom appliance fabrication
- Avoid side effects such as tooth movement and bite changes
- Discuss the basic principles of ethical and legal billing of medical insurance
