During the past 15 years, dentistry has moved from metal to ceramic. Many challenges have been encountered, and some of them have been solved. Use of ceramic indirect restorations is now nearing 100%. This online course identifies the challenges that have emerged during this major shift and discusses the ones that have been solved and the ones that are still problematic. The course will discuss:
- Current ceramic crown margins do not fit as well as previous crowns.
- Crowns are coming off in service.
- Long-span fixed prostheses often break.
- Restorations have a thin layer of glaze and stain to provide color match, which has negative characteristics.
- Precision attachments are a challenge with ceramic.
- HOW TO SOLVE ALL OF THE ABOVE.
